'Green Words Backed by Green Deeds'
Our Green Agenda

'Green Deeds' have been a key point on Tradeteam's business agenda since 2007, when an all encompassing company strategy was developed to help Tradeteam not only to reduce its CO2 emissions but also to minimise the environmental impact of how the company goes about its long-term business objectives. Indeed, many of Tradeteam's customers have set their own reduction goals and they expect their logistics provider to be an active participant in achieving them.

Currently, Tradeteam produces approximately 35,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide. Of this, diesel is by far the biggest contributory factor and other areas such as utilities, waste and packaging have been closely examined to understand how they impact on the business going forward. In addition, employees were asked to be imaginative at a local level and to come forward with potential environmental initiatives that could have an impact either locally or on a nationwide scale. Tradeteam has set meaningful targets and established a structured team - with senior sponsorship and dedicated managers in each region, complemented by support from corporate functions. Each operation has a dedicated and enthusiastic 'environmental champion' to facilitate the implementation of environmental initiatives at grass roots level.

Tradeteam's strategy focuses on reducing the level of CO2 emissions resulting from both the consumption of energy at its premises and the consumption of diesel by its road transport operations. The company takes a two-tier approach, on the one hand focusing on its 'direct impacts', and on the other, engaging with enlightened customers to help them understand the opportunities to reduce the impact of their supply chains on the environment.

Thanks to the success of its 'Green' Strategy, Tradeteam went beyond a 5% target for 2009 and reached a 7% cut in carbon consumption. Tradeteam is currently on target to reduce its carbon footprint by 30% by 2020.
